It should also be stressed that if there are improvements, they will be measurable but not noticeable to the naked eye. PUREing your putter shaft definitely won’t hurt your performance, but you may not see any improvements either. I suspected that given the lively feel of the Fujikura MC Smooth PUREing that shaft might make a bigger difference, but I was incorrect. Half were right about steel and half were right about graphite. Interestingly, our testers were no better at identifying the PURE’d steel than the PURE’d graphite. Regardless of confidence, not one golfer in our test correctly identified both PURE’d shafts. Our testers spanned a large range with confidence – as high as 8 and as low as 3. With steel, there was not any difference.īecause start line is such a critical element in making putts, even a small improvement merits rating this myth as plausible.Īfter hitting both steel or graphite putters, I asked each player to identify the PURE’d shaft and rate their level of confidence. It would also be interesting to run this test again on an even longer putt.įor start line, we saw a slight advantage for the PURE’d graphite shaft. This is one segment of the testing where a putting robot would have been useful, as I suspect some players unintentionally swung a bit harder to compensate for their mishits. With both steel and graphite, PUREing did not show any benefits for preserving distance or distance consistency. On our longer putt, we had players intentionally strike a series of putts on the heel and toe and evaluated the results. Understanding this myth is much more straightforward, though the results were still muddled. We saw only positive affects of PUREing, but they were not that large and they were not seen in all golfers. This myth also receives a rating of plausible, though it leans slightly closer to confirmed. Though this is not related to consistency, it was interesting to see that PUREing slowed the rate of closure for both steel and graphite shafts. No metrics were negatively affected by PUREing. With the steel shafts, PUREing shrank the range on angle of attack. Again, no player lost more than 2% consistency with the un-PURE shaft.įor our twenty foot putt, PUREing reduced the range of face angle-to-path numbers, though the averages and medians were nearly identical. With graphite, three players improved their consistency score by more than 2%. The other five players were within that margin with both steel shafts. On the short putts with a steel shaft, we saw two players improve their consistency score by more than 2%. This myth cannot be confirmed, but it is possible that that a given player will improve their strike location with a PURE’d putter shaft. The other four testers did not show a difference. The PURE shaft outperformed the standard shaft for two testers and underperformed for one. When we tested long putts, our results were mixed also. These results were true for both graphite and steel. PUREing the putter shaft did not negatively impact anyone, but five testers were equally proficient with PURE and un-PURE shafts. On short putts, we found that PUREing a putter shaft improved the impact location for two of our testers. These putts were measured with Foresight CGQuad.ĭuring all testing, the participants were blind to which shafts had been PURE’d and which had not.Īll testing was done at and with the help of Club Champion. In the second stage, a different group of seven golfers tested the four putters on a twenty foot putt. Each player hit each putter seven times, aiming to make an eight-foot putt. First, we had seven players test all four putters on SAM Puttlab. Thank you to SWAG, Fujikura, and KBS for their support of Golf Myths Unplugged. One of the KBS shafts was PURE’d, one was not. One of the Fujikura shafts was PURE’d, one was not. Two putters were shafted with KBS CT Tour shafts (steel) and two were shafted with Fujikura MC Smooth shafts (graphite, review HERE). All four heads were SWAG Handsome One putters. Myth # – Golfers can feel the difference between PURE’d and not PURE’d putter shaftsįor this Golf Myths Unplugged, we used two pairs of nearly-identical putters. Myth #3 – PUREing a putter shaft improves performance on mishits Myth #2 – PUREing a putter shaft improves stroke consistency Myth #1 – PUREing a putter shaft improves impact location It’s taken several years, but we’re back with a follow up: should you PURE your putter shaft? I went in skeptical but came away convinced that every golfer should PURE their shafts. One of the best Golf Myths Unplugged that we’ve ever done was about the effects of PUREing a golf shaft.

Often referred to as “lag,” latency is a description of the time it takes to send a ping to a given server and receive it back at your local device again. The internet speed test starts by identifying the network server that is closest to you. This measurement is reflected as latency on a network. You will usually see this represented as a “ping rate,” which simply measures how much time passes during the process of sending the signal and receiving it again. Ping simply refers to a signal that is sent from a given device to a server, and back again. Unlike bandwidth, however, this is a measurement of volume, not speed. Throughput is very similar to bandwidth, in that it is a measurement of the amount of data that passes from one point to another within a certain amount of time. During certain times of peak traffic, you may experience slower speeds. ISP’s commonly advertise the best case scenario bandwidth when showing the speeds offered in their internet plans.įor example, if a provider lists a download speed of 25 Mbps, this figure is based on the full capacity (bandwidth) of the company’s network. You can think of bandwidth as the total capacity a given network has in terms of data. No currently operating consumer networks utilize this measurement. Faster connections are measured this way. The most common unit of measurement for modern internet connections. Only the slowest connections are measured this way. Transfer rates are commonly described using a bits-per-second measurement. This can be done through the internet, or locally, such as transferring photos between a flash drive and your computer’s local storage. Simply put, transfer rate refers to how quickly data is transferred between two or more devices. There are 1 billion bytes in a Gigabyte (GB). There are 1 million bytes in a Megabyte (MB). Since bits are such a small unit of measurement, it makes more sense to use bytes when discussing file sizes.įor example, there are 1,000 bytes in a single Kilobyte (KB). There are 1 billion bits in a Gigabit (Gb).Ī byte is a common unit of measurement for determining how large a particular piece of data is. There are 1 million bits in a Megabit (Mb). These are the ones and zeroes that make up binary code.įor reference, there are 1,000 bits in a single Kilobit (Kb). Speed Test Terms: How To Understand Your Results Bitsīits are foundational units of measurement for digital data. Streaming multiple TV shows or movies at the same time (especially 4K media) and downloading large files are both examples of activities that require higher download speeds than average. Almost all activities require a certain amount of download speed, so this is the main number you’ll want to pay attention to when deciding how much internet speed you need. Download Speedĭownload speed refers to how quickly your connection can retrieve data from a website or server online. Some do, however, including Skype and other video chat services, online gaming, and large cloud storage applications like Dropbox and Google Drive. In short, most activities online do not require high upload speeds. This number is often not the one heavily advertised by service providers online, and this is on purpose. Upload speed refers to how quickly your connection can send something (data, in this case) from your device to the wider internet. In order to better understand your internet speed test, it is vital to know the difference between upload speed and download speed. Understanding Your Internet Speed Test Results The speeds advertised by internet providers are based on the speed you get with a device wired directly to the router using an ethernet cable. Keep in mind that using WiFi tends to reduce performance. This will often solve the issue, but not always. If you test your connection multiple times and find that you aren’t getting what you’re paying for, we recommend reaching out to your ISP for help. Running our internet speed test is the best way to determine if your provider is actually holding up their end of the bargain. Then there’s the flipside you may be paying for speeds you’re not actually getting. Based on the information above, if you find that your internet speeds are higher than needed, we’d recommend reaching out to your ISP (Internet Service Provider) and switching to a lower-cost plan. You may be paying for more speed than you actually need, and these additional fees could be costing you month after month. For one, it could potentially save you some money. Require the China dress (from the second boss)ģ7) Build the bridge to the maelstrom and upgrade the castle a second time. However, it's always viewable from the replay room as soon as you saw at least one variation.ģ6) Construct the castle. Check on them.ĥ4) Use the skill given by the equipment acquired in the cemetery once you have done the painting questĥ5) Use the skill given by the item acquired in the manor quest line. While a skeleton is immune to weather effects it cannot heal itself but has to repair itself. You choose of 4 or 5 different races and then a subrace. There are factions! (Haven’t played in a long time so I can’t say much.) Your choices and your character built do matter. Similar to Bloodlines when it comes to graphics and clunkiness. Unfortunately the game had and has a lot of issues and the different skills are not as balanced as to warrant all possible roles equal. Distributing skill points will help you further in carving out the role you want to play. There is a story and it also reacts to your clan role. You choose one of seven playable clans and with your choice come very distinctive abilities and limitations. The game is definitively worth a look though! There are factions! Since the game is quite „eurojanky“ I cannot say for sure if the openness to different approaches is so by design or by accident. You have to choose how you want to play it and then stick with it. I can’t say for sure if really a lot of different roles / approaches are viable but it definitively seems that way. More or less you will start as a blank slate. There is a narrative but it is not limiting your role in any way. Only at first glance are the graphics bad. You can become a thief and it will actually be viable as far as I can tell. Your character is fixed but you must choose if you want to be good at archery, one-handed sword, two-handed swords, speech, charisma. Incredibly good game with stunning graphics and a very engaging, sometimes very funny story. (see Avartis quotation in the beginning.) For those who are insensitive to bad graphics and almost 20 year old mechanics, should also check out Morrowind which is a true RPG in the sense I am talking about. With certain graphic mods (True Storms!) the game looks much, much better than I remember. Check the comments by /u/ Non-Eutactic_Solid and /u/ SkeptioningQuestic down below. The mod Requiem deserves a special mentioning since it seems to make Skyrim even more of a role-playing experience. there are so many survival mods out there (Campfire, Frostfall, Wet/Cold) that you can create the RPG you want. Also tons and tons of mods to customize your experience. You can be a Vampire, you can be good or bad, you can hunt dragons or get rich by selling stuff. I’ve commented only on those games that I have played myself, the rest is just listed and I can’t say for sure if you can actually roleplay. Old games from the 1990s or even older are mostly excluded since I have stated that I do not want graphics that make my eyes hurt. What follows is a briefly annotated list of games that were suggested here and that fit the above definition. In my opinion a perfect example for that style of RPG is Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines. Plus point is if there are factions that further limit or help you on your way. Creating your charachter here not only or not even means that you can customize appearances but that your chosen traits (or perks), the distributing of skill points and the choices you make whilst playing the game, opens one way of playing and closing many others. But I was seeking for games that fit the above definition of an RPG. I do understand that for some people role-playing can also mean that you take over the control of such a well defined character as Geralt of Rivia in The Witcher 3. The whole point of an RPG and indeed much of an RPG’s replayability comes from the fact that in each playthrough you can choose a different path to walk down.“ You’ll find it incredibly hard to use, say, two-handed weapons if you initially choose attributes for a mage. There are over 20 classes to choose from and choosing one matters. „class and leveling system is more in depth than Skyrim’s. In his video „Morrowind Looks Amazing In 2020 - Graphics Overhaul“, Avarti says Morrowind’s I have deleted my original post BUT you will find it in the comment section! It was my fault and my fault only that I didn't make clear enough what kind of RPG I was talking about! I apologize. * I took my time to create a clarifying introduction and then a somewhat comprehensive list of RPGs that fit the bill. |
